Community Outreach

The Story Theatre is committed to art as activism. While we believe in the ability of theatre to spark powerful discussion, discourse in thought, and change on an individual level, we believe that in order to create system change, we must stretch that work further. Led by Sydney Ha, our Community Outreach team works to engage with the themes of each play in a thoughtful and meaningful way by contextualizing the text historically, socially, and politically, while actively pursuing connections to folx in our community already doing the work. We pair each of our shows with a local organization to offer additional support and education surrounding the themes presented in our work.

Below are some of the ways we've engaged with our community in the past. For more information, or to get involved, please contact Sydney Ha at sydney@thestorytheatre.org.

Free The Land: Black Solidarity for Palestinian Liberation
April 15, 2024

Join us for a night of art, music, and storytelling as we raise funds to help get Heba, Ahmed and Amal out of Gaza. As artists and lovers of the liberating and radical art of theatre, we’re calling for our community to show up, show out, and stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Audience Building

We want to make sure that anyone who wants to see a show at The Story is able to. As residents of Raven Theatre, we ensure that every space we perform in is ADA-compliant, and we have never sold a ticket for more than $15. We believe cost should not be prohibitive when it comes to engaging with art.
